The CSR Guide
The Netherlands ranks as China’s second largest trade partner within the EU. As Sino-Dutch economic ties are strengthened, how we do business together is getting increasingly important for both our countries.
In 2010, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands launched its first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) guide, the ‘CSR Starter Kit’. Since then, the CSR landscape has been changing rapidly. To highlight these changes, the Dutch embassy has updated the Starter Kit and feels it is appropriate to upgrade it to the fully-fledged ‘CSR Guide’, which will be launched on 4 July in Shanghai.
This guide for responsible and sustainable business practices in China is intended as a practical tool for Dutch companies and their Chinese counterparts. It is intended for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as for large corporations in all industries, and provides information on CSR topics that are increasingly important for Dutch business. It will also help Dutch companies working and investing in China to understand the specific CSR environment in China.
The content of this CSR Guide is also relevant for other European companies and local Chinese companies who want to implement CSR in their business activities in China. During the event, each attendee will receive a copy of the newly produced CSR Guide.
The Seminar & Panel Discussion
Culture and communication differences are among the major challenges for companies doing business internationally. These differences can be even bigger when foreign companies operate in China.
Therefore, as the second part of this afternoon’s program, we invite 4-5 CSR managers from companies in different industries and headquartered in different countries to share their CSR practices in China. Afterwards a panel discussion on “how do foreign companies deal with culture and communication differences when implementing CSR in China” will be followed.
Through the presentations and the panel discussion, the invited speakers will introduce their company’s CSR strategy and its implementation in China, with a focus on how did they (try to) overcome internal and external culture and communication barriers in their CSR work. This session will provide every attendee an open learning and sharing platform in an international atmosphere.
