The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is delighted to welcome back Dr. Dan Steinbock, renowned authority on global political economy and international business, to discuss leadership transition in China, presidential elections in the U.S., and a crossroads for Europe.
In the coming months, global economic tensions are about to escalate. Despite some gains, the Eurozone remains troubled by its unsustainable debt burden. Meanwhile, U.S. presidential elections will shape the policy response to the challenge of the "fiscal cliff." In China, the leadership transition will determine core policies for years to come. At the same time, the prospects of global growth have been downgraded by the IMF and the World Bank, while the WTO has repeatedly warned of protectionist signs.
What are the implications in terms of the business environments, multinational corporate activities, international trade and investment? How are the debt crises in the West reflected in the growth prospects in the East, particularly in China? These are some of the questions that will be addressed during this event right after the U.S. presidential election and right before the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
