In his three years at the European Union Delegation to China, Ambassador Ederer has been a stalwart for the work of the European Chamber and has unswervingly offered himself at the service of European industry in China.

The cooperation offered by the EU Delegation remains critical to the Chamber’s ability to authoritatively represent the voice of European industry in China and his support has played a huge role to assist this. Ambassador Ederer spearheaded the EU-China Partnership on Urbanisation and has been instrumental in fostering opportunities for European industry to meet China’s growing urbanisation needs. The strong base for EU-China cooperation in the urbanisation sector will be one of many legacies that Ambassador Ederer will leave.

As many of our members know, Ambassador Ederer has done much to champion the work of the European Chamber. He spoke openly and earnestly at high-level European Chamber events such as the Annual European Chamber Conference, our Annual General Meetings and the Shanghai Government Appreciation Dinner and opened many doors for the Chamber by providing access to both visiting senior European government officials and to Chinese central and provincial officials in China. Perhaps most importantly, Ambassador Ederer supported much of the Chamber’s advocacy work through his willingness to send letters to Chinese government offices on issues of particular importance for our working groups and through his consideration, incorporation, dissemination and communication of many of the recommendations in our Position Paper.
