Meeting with Jinan Foreign Affairs Delegation (Energy WG Vice Chair)

The Shanghai chapter welcomed a visit from Tian Yin, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jinan and the rest of the Jinan delegation (庞龙, Deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jinan, 董晓丽 Director of Europe Africa division) on the 4th November to discuss the general situation of Jinan and potential areas of collaboration with European coompanies as well as the Shandong Initiative. This built on the recent Jinan visit from the European Chamber delegation, led by Vice President, Guido Giacconi. The vice chair of the Energy Working Group, Juan Ignacio Garcia de Motiloa was present to represent the chamber and the advocacy work of the working group.

Keynote Speech at Sino-Europe Net-Zero Carbon Emissions Summit Forum

The European Chamber was represented by the Energy WG Vice Chair in the Sino-Europe Net-Zero Carbon Emissions Summit Forum hosted in Shanghai by TUV Rheinland, a member company involved in the Energy and Environment Working Groups. The keynote speech focused on potential areas of collaboration for EU-China in this sector as well as the current challenges and developments in wind energy, hydrogen and expectations in the lead up to COP26. Other keynote speakers included Qimin Chai, Director of Strategic Planning at the National Centre for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC) and Dr Jin Li, General Manager of Carbon Neutral Operation Centre-Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange.

Meeting with China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute (CREEI)

On 18th September, National Chair of Energy Working Group met with the representatives of the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute (CREEI). Both sides introduced themselves, exchanged views on China-Europe cooperation in offshore wind power, and discussed the organisation, draft agenda and other details of the China-Europe Offshore Wind Power Cooperation Forum in mid-November, which will take place in Yancheng (Jiangsu).

ESG Seminar: New Energy and Carbon Neutrality

In order to better serve and support the development of Shanghai new energy industry and continuously attract foreign investment, this ESG seminar "New Energy and Carbon Neutrality" promotion conference was jointly organised by Shanghai Foreign Investment Development Board and the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, and PwC. During the conference, the new energy industry development in Shanghai and the foreign investment environment and policies in Shanghai were introduced to key foreign enterprises to increase awareness on ESG investment incentives.

On 25th August, European Chamber Energy Working Group representative met Mr Liu Qiang, Director of Research Office, Institute of Quantitative and Technical Economics of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
