Position Paper Presentation to Danish Ambassador

l  Danish Embassy has many new colleagues. Some didn’t know the EUCCC so it was a good opportunity to present it.

l  EUCCC presented this year’s PP

l  Ambassador informed that Danish-Chinese relations are at an all-time high with many recent high level visits both ways

l  Ambassador spoke highly about the performance of Danish companies: Denmark’s per capita share of exports and investment in China both rank within the top 3 among EU member states

l  TB highlighted that there is much more that we can be collectively doing to support Danish and European companies in China and encourage more Danish companies to become members of the EUCCC

l  AD asked about the challenges of Danish EU SMEs face in China: Ambassador responded that the biggest challenge lies within themselves and not having enough resources, business skills related to China, and general understanding of the operating environment to adequately evaluate and successfully do business in China.

l  AD informed about the services of the EU SME Centre which is already being well used by the Danish Embassy in visit programming. AD informed that the EUCCC is a consortium partner and the new phase of the EU SME Centre has just started and there will be a new aspect on advocacy.  He explained the EUCCC will be add an additional resource to carry out this work and that a new inter-chamber SME Working Group will be sent up open to all SMEs to create a bigger pool from which our advocacy messaging can drawn.
