The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China cordially invites you to attend the launch of the European Business in China – Business Confidence Survey 2024, on 5 June in Shenzhen.
At the event, you will learn about the key national findings of this year’s survey with a local South China focus presented by Mr. Klaus Zenkel and Mr. Fabian Blake, respectively, Vice President of the European Chamber, South China chapter Chair, and Vice Chair of the South China Board.
Some companies have already started to re-evaluate their engagement with the Chinese market. Some of the strategies they are pursuing—including cutting costs and toning down expansion plans—have the potential to add to China’s economic woes and set a negative cycle in motion. If China is to prevent this cycle and rebuild investor confidence, it will need to urgently address the regulatory and market access barriers that are preventing European companies from contributing fully to its economy.
We will explore the reasons why South China shows the worst profitability results and the most negative perceptions of treatment of FIE compared to other chapters in this survey. We will also hear the views of various panelists operating in Guangdong in different sectors on the business outlook for 2024.
Is there a glimmer of hope that optimism about the short- and medium-term outlook is returning, or is it fading?
Language: English
Audience: Decision makers of the South China business community, Consul Generals and consulates representatives, media.
