The European Union Chamber of Commerce Shanghai Chapter is delighted to invite you to the launch event of the European Business in China – Position Paper 2023/2024 on 27th September 2023.
China’s re-opening of borders in January 2023 was a welcome surprise, together with signals of China’s political will to increase investor confidence, it spurred hopes of a rapid economic rebound. Yet, China’s economic growth in 2023 so far has fallen short of expectations, with the economy barely growing in the second quarter of the year. The hotly anticipated release of consumer demand never materialised, while structural challenges continue to dampen growth and a slew of national security focused legislation have increased complexity and uncertainty.
The new edition of the European Chamber’s European Business in China Position Paper 2023/2024, published on 20th September 2023, is a comprehensive summary by 48 working groups, desks and fora of the challenges faced by European companies operating in China and outlines more than 1000 constructive recommendations to the Chinese government on how to these can be resolved.
Join us to discuss the issues, recommendations and possible solutions outlined in the Position Paper from the perspective of European businesses from a range of industries in Shanghai.
