The European Chamber cordially invites you to attend the media roundtable/public event for the launch of its latest report, compiled in partnership with the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS), China’s Innovation Ecosystem: The localisation dilemma, on 21st April from 14:30–16:00 (Beijing time).
This second of a series of three planned reports on European companies’ research and development (R&D) operations in China outlines the wide spectrum of strategies enterprises are deploying to mitigate risks and maximise their competitiveness. Some firms have opted to increasingly integrate their China R&D with global efforts, while a host of risks are deterring others from engaging in innovation in China at all.
It comes at a time when China’s abandonment of its zero-COVID policy has seen a gradual resumption of people-to-people exchanges between Europe and China, which is a very positive development for business. However, this is taking place against the backdrop of the steady escalation of the US-China struggle for technological supremacy, all while geopolitical factors, such as the war in Ukraine, are making the situation even more complex.
The report’s main findings will be presented by Jörg Wuttke, president of the European Chamber, and Mikko Huotari, executive director of MERICS.
This event will be organized in a hybrid format with limited onsite seating to be reserved on a first-come-first served basis.
