European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is delighted to invite you to the launch of the European Business in China – Tianjin Position Paper 2023/2024 (Tianjin Position Paper). This is the second edition that the Tianjin Position Paper is brought out and the report outlines how Tianjin can get its economic development back on track and further booster the business confidence.
Tianjin is one of four cities in China with provincial status reporting directly to the central government. In the earlier years of 2000 it boosted an annual GDP well above the national average for years, for example, in 2012 the municipality had reported among the highest gross domestic product (GDP) results in China. Strong economic development has greatly contributed to many of the changes witnessed in Tianjin, but some changes were also unplanned. Perhaps the most significant of these was the explosion in Tianjin’s port area on 12th August, 2015, which had a devastating economic effect on the city. With respect to the GDP, Tianjin since 2017 dropped from 6th place out of the Top 10 list in China. European business community has a strong will to support Tianjin. What can Tianjin do to turn the tide and become economically important again?
This second edition of the Tianjin Position Paper puts forward 20 constructive recommendations. European companies operating in Tianjin believe that a great deal of potential remains untapped. The paper recommends that the Tianjin Government refocus on Tianjin’s core strengths in order to accelerate its development and attract investment; develop a more business-orientated mindset and implement regular and frequent exchanges with the foreign business community on how to improve its business environment; lay the groundwork to achieve the carbon neutrality goal and tackle its human resources challenges.
Each attendee will receive a hard copy of the Tianjin Position Paper and a gift.
Please bring your business card for lucky draw.
