The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to a breakfast seminar on taxation. It will take place at the European Chamber on Wednesday, 27th November, 9:00 – 10:30, with registrations beginning at 8:30.
As the first VAT reform pilot region, Shanghai takes the lead in publishing implementation guidelines (Announcement No. 3) for VAT exemption on cross-border services which provides both detailed requirements and procedures for the application of VAT exemption as well as solutions to clear the VAT paid during the previous pilot period. The seminar will focus on the difference between Announcement No. 52 and Announcement No.3, the difficulties in applying for the guideline, issues needed for further clarification, as well as the impact on taxpayers eligible for the VAT exemption.
As system of countries part of ASEAN and strategically located near China, South East Asia is considered a new leading region in worldwide economic development. ASEAN fiscal systems have been reformed during the years in order to better align rules with the regional economic development. the seminar will introduce a general overview on south East Asian main economies and a tax and business comparison between China, Vietnam and other economies in East Asia.

Mr. Justin Yu
Justin graduated from the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in July 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in Taxation. He represented the university in the “Deloitte Tax Championship 2006” and won third prize in the nationwide. He commenced his career in the tax department of Deloitte (Beijing office) in 2007, where he worked until 2009. After that, he joined the China Taxation Advisory Corporation (“CTAC”) as a senior tax advisor and tax manager of the International Department. His practice included consulting for multinational groups with regard to direct& indirect taxation and international taxation. In July 2011, he was awarded a scholarship to attend the 2012-2013 Master of Advanced Studies in International Tax Law Program in Leiden University (Adv. LL.M). He also passed all the courses of CICPA in professional stage. At present, he works as tax manager in Mazars Shanghai office.
Mr. Lorenzo Riccardi
Lorenzo Riccardi is a Tax Advisor and Certified Public Accountant specialized in international taxation. He is based in Shanghai, where he focuses on business and tax law, assisting foreign investments in East Asia. He is an auditor and an advisor for several corporate groups and he is partner and Head of Taxation of the consulting firm GWA, specializing in emerging markets. Lorenzo is a lecturer at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a speaker at seminars and conventions on foreign investments in Asia. Being a columnist for Corriere Asia, Fiscalita’ Estera, Il Sole 24 Ore, China Law and Practice, he has published extensively regarding business and tax law in Asia. He is author of the following publications: China Tax Law and International Treaties, 2013 (Springer); Tax Guide of China, Vietnam and India, 2012 (Il Sole 24Ore); China Tax Code 2012 (LAP); Vietnam Double Taxation Agreements, 2013 (LAP).
