ABE Dinner Event: Corporate Social Responsibilities A Mindset for CSR and Sustainable Development This presentation introduces a new way of thinking about CSR that also has high relevance and meaning for its dynamic emergence in China today. It examines closely the trend towards whole brain thinking (left brain / right brain aptitudes) which is rapidly being recognized as essential for understanding CSR and Sustainability as well as for applying the best tools to create strategies that are equally focused on planet, profits and people. The presentation covers how the integration of the more conventional logical, analytical, numbers driven approach to business is being integrated with an increasingly more important holistic and strategic approach based on a growing emphasis on design, story, empathy, symphony and meaning. By embodying seamlessly whole brain thinking within the context of CSR and sustainable development with business and policy thinking, the implications for economics, environment and society is a new mindset that makes CSR more understandable and usable in a business approach. The goal is to create, capture and measure value for companies through the strategic integration of CSR with a business process. It strives to move beyond viewing CSR as philanthropy, PR and feel good to a better understanding of the value which it has the potential to create.
