Shanghai ride hailing company SAIC Mobility picks Sweden’s CabinAir to bring healthier air to drivers and passengers

Shanghai, November 1 2021-- For the first time ever, ride hailing drivers and passengers in Shanghai will be breathing healthier air, thanks to a deal struck between SAIC Mobility, locally known as Xiangdao, and CabinAir, the Stockholm-founded innovator of in-vehicle air quality.

“Ride hailing cars are some of the vehicles that need our solutions the most,” says CabinAir CEO Daniel Hagström. “Not only is it a competitive advantage to offer healthy air to passengers, there’s an even bigger health benefit for drivers, who spend many hours a day breathing air that can be many times more polluted than outside air.”

Indeed, people who spend a lot of time in cars are increasingly exposed to high levels of air pollution, which seriously affects their health. Typical pollutants include tiny PM2.5 particles that go deep into the lungs before directly entering the bloodstream, toxic vapors like formaldehyde, which are emitted by interior carpets and plastics, dust, pollen and other allergens, as well as bacteria and viruses.

All of these pollutants can become concentrated inside a vehicle, making the air inside our cars some of the most polluted air that we ever encounter. For professional drivers who spend long hours in the car every day, the problem is even worse.
