Volkswagen: Renowned German photographer Andreas Mühe to open first solo exhibition in China with new pieces

  • Volkswagen Group presents Andreas Mühe’s first solo exhibition in China in collaboration with the Red Brick Art Museum Beijing and the Foundation for Art and Culture, Bonn.
  • Prof. Dr. Jochem Heizmann: “Our motivation as a mobility provider, worldwide and in China, is to move people, also via culture. We are convinced that this exhibition will bring together German and Chinese culture to the benefit of all.”
  • Andreas Mühe will be exhibiting over 60 works from the past 15 years, including new pieces, shown for the very first time.

Following the great success of Deutschland 8 in 2017, Volkswagen Group China is collaborating with the Red Brick Art Museum and the Foundation of Art and Culture, Bonn, to bring back one of the Deutschland 8’s highlights, photo-artist Andreas Mühe, for his very first solo exhibition in China. The show will present more than 60 works from the past 15 years of Andreas Mühe’s oeuvre, from the 11th of September until the 21st of October at the Red Brick Art Museum in Beijing.
“I’m convinced this exhibition of Andreas Mühe will connect German and Chinese culture in a very exciting and inspiring way. It fits perfectly with Volkswagen Group China’s cultural and social activities, where mutual exchange and education are our principal pillars. We are delighted to support Mr. Mühe’s first solo exhibition in China, as he was already one of the artists who made the Deutschland 8 exhibition in 2017 a great success story. ” said Prof. Dr. Jochem Heizmann, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft as well as President and CEO of Volkswagen Group China.
During Deutschland 8 exhibition last year, Andreas Mühe hosted the photography journey for children. He is known for his superb technical craftmanship, precision and his compelling visual language. He weaves a thoughtful narrative of his native country, providing an engaging insight into the history of Germany through a variety of themes such as cultural identity and political history. This year, by supporting the exhibition, Volkswagen Group China contributes by presenting the work of this award-winning artist to the Chinese public, and promotes the connection between Germany and China.
