Andy Ho, CEO of Philips Greater China, is among a select group of individuals to have been awarded a 2018 Shanghai Magnolia Award by the Shanghai Municipal Government in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the city's development. With a background in healthcare and technology, Andy has played a leading role in Philips’ evolution into an integrated healthcare solutions provider since his appointment as leader of Philips Greater China in 2015.

Thanks to his vision and energy, Philips has seen sustained growth in China, which now ranks as Philips’ second-largest market. However, it is not only in terms of business development that Andy has contributed to the Shanghai community. Under his leadership, Philips China has been an active participant in many charity programs to help those in need. For example, in partnership with the Red Cross Society of China, he has overseen the donation of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and the provision of life-saving emergency first-aid training to the people of Shanghai.

However, Andy is keen to point out that the award is not just in recognition of his own efforts.

“I am extremely proud to have received this Shanghai Magnolia Award, but I don’t only regard it as a recognition of me, but of Philips as a whole,” he says. “People don’t just follow what you say, they follow what you do, and Philips has done a great deal to improve people’s lives, not just in China, but all over the world.”

Andy has been instrumental in Philips’ digital transformation in China and is committed to helping address the country’s healthcare challenges through technology-enabled solutions and multi-stakeholder collaboration. He has encouraged the wider health-tech industry to adopt an ‘Internet Plus’ information superhighway strategy and has overseen Philips’ collaboration with stakeholders including government, hospitals, universities, technology incubators and IT industry leaders.
