European Chamber Fourth Medical Device Forum

The Healthcare Equipment (HCE) Working Group of the European Chamber, in collaboration with the European Coordination Committee of the Radiological, Electromedical, and Healthcare IT Industry (COCIR), hosted the Chamber's annual medical device forum on September 28, 2023, in Beijing.

Despite recent challenges, the event was attended by more than 150 participants. The forum welcomed senior officials and experts from various prestigious organizations, including the European Delegation to China, the Investment Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Commerce, the Hainan Health Commission, the Health Development Research Center of the National Health Commission, the China Society of Health Law, Data Security Department of the National Engineering Research Center for Cybersecurity Emergency Technology, and the Research Center of Public Policy of Peking University.

Under the theme "Reform Driven by Intelligence and Collaboration: Facilitating the Ecological Construction of China’s Modern Medical Device Industry System," the discussions revolved around crucial topics. These included medical device supply chain security, quality supervision, regulatory policies for AI medical equipment, the integration of medicine and engineering, and the precise management of medical consumables within the framework of volume-based procurement initiatives.

The forum provided a platform for esteemed Chinese experts to share invaluable insights. These insights ranged from addressing corruption issues in the pharmaceutical sector to advancements in the digital therapy industry in Hainan. Additionally, the discussions delved into cross-border data security management and sharing policies concerning healthcare service price reform.
