Roundtable with Changning District Government

On 21st June, Dr Ioana Kraft, general manager of the European Chamber Shanghai Chapter, together with representatives from several member companies, joined a virtual roundtable meeting with Wang Lan, Party Secretary of Changning, and the key leadership of the district, discussing issues and challenges faced by European headquarters and R&D centres based in Changing during the pandemic. Zhang Wei, Mayor of Changning district, delivered the opening remarks. Representatives from various departments, including district Foreign Affairs Office, Development and Reform Commission, Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Market Supervision Administration, Tax Bureau and others also joined this roundtable and responded to companies’ questions.

Party Secretary Wang expressed her thanks to the European enterprises for their strong support and cooperation in following the epidemic prevention and control measures, and for their efforts to overcome difficulties and speed up the resumption of work and production. Wang pointed out that Changning attaches great importance to the economic and trade cooperation with European enterprises and the district is now carrying out company visits and investigations to effectively optimise the regional business environment and solve problems for enterprises. Dr Kraft shared some of the findings of the recently published Business Confidence Survey 2022 and addressed challenges related to international and domestic travel faced by member companies and their impact on the business sentiment. Dr Kraft thanked for the support from Changning district government to mitigate the difficulties and help address challenges faced by European companies, as well as expressed the hope to continue the dialogue with Changning.
