Job description
Position Overview:
This position requires experience and knowledge of audio, visual and control systems and their functionalities. The A/V integration engineer will be responsible for the design, integration and improvement of technologies in state-of-the-art learning environments. This position requires close cooperation with the IT classroom Support Team to perform installations, troubleshooting, upgrading and fine tuning of AV equipment and system. Responsible for troubleshooting AV-related issues that are raised to the IT service desk and managing event support requests. Ensure consistent and reliable services and quality customer service.

Essential Duties:
1. Work independently or with 3rd party vendor with A/V equipment installations in a variety of spaces, including conference rooms, classrooms, lecture halls, and offices, as well as digital signage and other areas as needed. Installations may include transportation, unboxing, and physical installation of A/V devices and accessories.
2. Lead the AV event support efforts for IT by coordinating support based on event priority definitions. Work closely with event coordinators to identify needs, outline possible risks and provide backup solutions.
3. Provide oversight of the phase 2 AV contractors including daily work, maintenances and payments to the vendor when quarterly reports are received and approved.
4. Installation, configuration, and testing of audiovisual equipment, videoconferencing, software VTC tools (Zoom/Zoomroom) and collaboration technologies.
5. Day-to-day support of AV equipped spaces. Assist customers with scheduling, setup, and initial training on equipment usage and support procedures. Maintain the equipment inventory databases for equipment movement and regular maintenance records.
6. Create, modify, and maintain programming for AV systems, including both back-end (coding) and front-end (UI) projects. Maintain up-to-date Crestron and Biamp programming software and modules and provide firmware and/or software updates to installed equipment as needed to maintain proper operation. Provide second-tier support to AV equipped spaces as needed. Pursue additional training as needed to maintain proficiency in programming environments.
7. Troubleshoot existing AV systems and recommend/perform necessary repairs. Hardware may include digital projectors, DSPs, amplifiers, speaker systems, microphones, cameras, computer systems, A/V control processors, encoders/decoders and interfaces and more.
8. Provide technical leadership in support of DKU’s online courses production including but not limited those involving video recording, editing and sharing including production facilities and editorial equipment.
9. Advise and assess new equipment offered by AV suppliers and contractors. Evaluate and make recommendations based on classroom technology usage, and client feedback.
10. Position requires working outside of normal business hours including nights and weekends.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & experience
Required Qualifications:
1. A BA/BS in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
2. Two to five years’ experience in audio/visual designing, integration, and support; experiences in information systems, network, or instructional technologies support is a significant plus; at least eight years working experience in IT overall operations is preferred.
3. One or more advanced technical certifications in the field of audio/visual (from Crestron, Biamp, Extron, or other top manufacturers).
4. Crestron and Biamp programming skills, including creation and modification of SIMPL, VTPro, and Tesira programming files. Must understand basic Crestron troubleshooting using Toolbox.
5. Must have hands-on experience in AV integrations and be familiar with industry standards. Certifications are a plus, such as from Crestron, Biamp, Extron, Vaddio, etc.
6. Experience with installing, integrating and commissioning of audiovisual systems is required. Experience in technical support is highly preferred. Experience with basic desktop computer support is very desirable.
7. Experience in acoustic design, tuning, improving and troubleshooting, include microphones, speakers, DSPs, etc.
8. Experience in higher education and instructional technologies, particularly with integrated systems is highly preferred.
9. Experience with Crestron control systems, particularly control system coding and Crestron programming certification is highly desirable. Experience in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Fusion, XPanel, XiO Cloud.
10. Knowledge in the design of equipment from a variety of AV equipment manufacturers, such as Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Shure, Bose, Vaddio, Panasonic, Sony, Samsung and Cisco.
11. General knowledge of Information Technology (IT) services, hardware, infrastructure and system architecture (IP, LAN, WAN, routers; network switches, hubs).
12. Curiosity: interest in learning the ins and outs of audiovisual at and beyond DKU. Enthusiasm to ensure a steady stream of interesting new challenges.
13. Autonomy: Self-motivated. Ability to work with minimal oversight while investigating a problem and scoping out possible solutions.
