The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China was founded in 2000 by 51 member companies that shared a goal of establishing a common voice for the various business sectors of the European Union and European businesses operating in China. It is a members-driven, non-profit, fee-based organization with a core structure of 26 Working Groups and 9 Fora representing European business in China.
Job description
As part of our mandate to provide business intelligence and foster a European business community, the European Chamber holds a variety of events for members and the general public. We are looking for an Events Manager to lead the events team in the Beijing Chapter to deliver high-quality, content-driven events, and improve the visibility of the European Chamber.
Key responsibilities:
· Develop an annual event plan to meet the needs of the Beijing Chapter, including Government Affairs and other relevant departments.
· Develop concepts for, and execute, business-themed events.
· Recruit and develop relationships with speakers and potential speakers.
· Write compelling event promotions.
· Ensure smooth onsite management for all events including seminars, forums, summits, dinners and networking, by supervising the events team and implementing standard operating procedures.
· Manage the team to meet events and sponsorship revenue targets.
· Lead the organisation of logistics including venues, invitations, speakers, marketing and advertising, procurement of goods and services and funding of each event.
· Develop annual budget, and provide monthly budget forecasts and reporting of event statistics.
· Develop, train and manage the Beijing events team.
Skills & experience
Qualifications:
· Good knowledge of EU-China issues and strong interest in China’s policy/regulatory environment.
· Minimum 3 years’ experience as a function head in the government affairs, events, marketing, PR, academia or a related field.
· Team management experience.
· Budget management experience.
· Near native English speaker a must, other European languages and Mandarin are a plus.
· Strong research skills to understand where key developments are taking place (especially in terms of legislation) and if these have the potential to affect the European business community in China.
· Excellent project management skills.
· Outstanding verbal and written communicator.
Other desirable skills:
· Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work to strict deadlines.
· High degree of accuracy.
· A team player with a proactive and flexible approach to work with an outgoing personality.
· Computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite.
