Important News: The National People’s Congress adopts the Social Security Law

Dear Human Resources Forum member,

The National People’s Congress adopted the Social Security Law of the People’s Republic of China at the Standing Committee’s 17th Session on the 28th of October. This law will come into effect as of July 1st 2011.

This new law stipulates that employing units and individuals in China will have to pay a social security fee. In addition, both employing units and individuals will have the right to inquire as to fee payment records and records pertaining to personal rights and interests. According to the Social Security Law, social security agencies will also be providing consulting-related services for those who request it.
