Dr. François Godement
François Godement is Special advisor and Resident Fellow, U.S. & Asia at the Institut Montaigne, Paris. He is also a non-resident senior fellow of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, DC, and an external consultant for the Policy Planning Staff of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Until December 2018, he was the director of the Asia and China Programme and a senior policy fellow at the European Council for Foreign Relations.
A long-time professor at France’s National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilisations (INALCO) and Sciences Po, he created Centre Asie IFRI at the Paris-based Institut Français des Relations Internationales (1985–2005), and in 2005 created the Asia Centre. In 1995, he co-founded the European Committee of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific (CSCAP), which he co-chaired until 2008. He is a graduate of the École Normale Supérieure de la Rue d’Ulm (Paris), where he majored in history, and was a postgraduate student at Harvard University.
Dr. Hongjian Cui
Dr. CUI Hongjian received his Ph.D. degree in International Relations from Peking University and associated with China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) since 1998. Dr. Cui served as a senior diplomat in Chinese Missions abroad before he became a senior research fellow and Director of the European Studies in CIIS between 2009 and 2023. Now, Cui is the Director of the European Union Studies and Professor at the Academy of Regional and Global Governance, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Member of the China Economic and Social Council, Member of Chinese Association of International Understanding, Vice President of the China Association of European Studies and the Executive Director of European Studies Center in the China Fund of International Studies. Cui has been working on International Politics and Regional Governance, European economy, politics, security, published plenty of articles, policy reports and comments.
Ms. Ester Cañada Amela
Ester Cañada Amela manages the Chamber’s overall engagement with European institutional stakeholders and monitors relevant policy developments in the EU. She is also in charge of the Advocacy Platform at the EU SME Centre, an EU-funded project implemented by the European Chamber and three other partners, as well as the Chamber’s Standards and Conformity Assessment Working Group. Ester holds a double masters’ degree in European and Asian Affairs from Sciences Po Paris and Fudan University, as well as a BA in Translation from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
