Climate change has become one of the focuses that attract global attention. China also proposed at the 2020 United Nations General Assembly to fully implement the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, striving to achieve peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. The first challenge faced by enterprises in reducing emissions is how to calculate emissions more accurately, scientifically, and comprehensively, which is the foundation of enterprise emission reduction. The disclosure of emissions from enterprise products and operations may become a necessary policy requirement in the future. More and more regional markets and supply chains will impose restrictions on emissions to help reduce emissions and assume social responsibility.

European Parliament recently voted to officially pass the proposal on carbon border adjustment mechanism. It is reported that the CBAM plan (carbon tariff) will be implemented from October 1, 2023.

In recent years international F&B manufacturers and exporters are looking at the country for their investments and business expansion; US and European brands such as Beyond Meat, Omni Foods, VIOLIFE, and St Hubert have stepped into the Chinese market, of which the food and beverage market size was 9.1 billion US dollars in 2021, registered with a CAGR of 14%, according to Zhiyanzhan Research Institute. On the other side, the EU’s Farm to Fork strategy calls for a fair, healthy and sustainable food system and one of the approaches is transitioning from intensive animal agriculture to more plant-based food production.

This event will help European SMEs identify the market opportunities in plant-based food in China; analyse the exports to the region; understand the regulatory landscape; build competitive advantages against local brands; and benchmark against other leading entities that are thriving in this sector.

Join us on 30th August to hear about the latest developments and best practices from our prominent group of industry players and analysts.
