[Online Only] Global Industrial Policy: Clean Tech and Low Carbon future

Amidst the growing global economic and geopolitical uncertainties, industrial policy has taken a prominent role as nations worldwide formulate strategies and regulations concerning renewable energy, low-carbon technologies, and future materials. These developments are poised to reshape industries, especially in high-tech sectors like semiconductors, and exert a significant influence on global supply chains. Don't miss this essential discussion that delves into the future of global industrial strategy, its impact on clean technology, and the evolving dynamics of international trade. This event will provide a comprehensive examination of the approaches taken by the EU, China, and the US to foster and establish themselves as leaders in the field of clean technologies through their respective industrial policy initiatives.

Decarbonization of the electric power system is the key to realize the “double carbon” target. EU SMEs have to increase the usage of renewable energy while decreasing coal power when facing the ever-growing demand in electricity. However, to meet the target is not simply stop using coal power, but to realize multi-energy integration and complementation by optimizing the combination of coal and new energy, and furtherly establish low-carbon electric power system with renewable energy as the main body.

Following on from our successful “Women in Business” event series, and to mark the global “Movember” movement, we are now delighted to bring our first ever event specifically focused upon men’s issues.

Men continue to face challenges, particularly in this post-pandemic world, from work stress, societal expectations, family tensions and economic pressures. Instead of opening up, sharing and reaching out for help, men often keep quiet when facing these stresses and mental health challenges.

Through sharing the personal experiences, faced by men, we hope to reduce shame and awkwardness about opening up, reaching out and seeking help – whether for personal challenges or when helping others.

The “Movember” awareness drive started in 2003, when two friends from Australia, inspired by a fundraising effort of a friend for his mother’s breast cancer, began growing a moustache every November to raise funds and awareness of men’s issues. Movember has grown over the years to become a men’s version of the global “pink ribbon” movement in support of breast cancer. In recent years the focus has expanded globally to include men’s mental health suicide prevention, and awareness of testicular and prostate cancer and the need for regular screening and care.

We have invited a number of businessmen to openly share their personal experiences of dealing with a particular challenge as a man, at work or in life, how they coped with it and any advice they have for others. An interactive “game” and Q&A will follow.

Whether you are male or female, whether you wish to share or just listen, please join us to learn more about this meaningful, often ignored and highly relevant subject.

Faced with an increasingly unstable geopolitical and economic environment, industrial policy has been inserted as a core component in the agendas of the world’s largest three economies – the United States (US), China, and the European Union (EU). These strategies and regulations on renewable and low-carbon energy technologies, raw materials and technologies of the future are likely to result in profound implications on the global supply and value chains while reshaping industries especially high-tech sector such as semiconductors.

What is the global geopolitical and trade outlook look like amid this global industrial strategy race? What are the implications of the varying policy measures on the strategies of multinational companies? As the world is seemingly moving away from globalisation, how will the elevation of industrial strategies impact the liberalisation of global trade?
