According to China's law, once appointed to manage a company, the legal representative will take certain powers and be exposed to legal liabilities at the same time, which may lead to personal risks for wrongdoings either by him/herself or by the company and its employees, subject to civil, administrative or even criminal liability. For foreign nationals, penalties in serious cases may include deportation and ban from China for several years.
