The elections are being held as Thomas Pattloch, the current IPR Chair, is leaving Shanghai. With reference to the EU-China IP Dialogue on the 15th and 16th of December 2005, this was the second such dialogue to have been held. Productive discussions took place on various topics related to IPR. It was agreed by both parties that significant progress had been made since the setting up of the Dialogue a year previously. Both sides reitterated their desire to promote the protection of creations, inventions and distinctive signs and agreed to set up their fight against counterfeiting and piracy through maintaining strong cooperation.
