Dear Working Group Member,
We are delighted to invite you to the next joint Logistics and Finance & Taxation Working Groups meeting to be held on Tuesday, 24th April 2012, starting at 10:00am at the European Chamber’s Office in Beijing (please refer to the address above).
At this meeting we will have the honor and pleasure to welcome Mr. Peter Law, Senior Manager, Tax Advisory Services, Mazars. He will give a presentation focusing on the implications of VAT. China has started the indirect tax reform in Shanghai to transform certain industries which was previously subject to Business Tax (“BT”) to the scope of VAT from 1 January 2012. It is widely considered as one of the measures to reduce the taxpayers' turnover tax burden. It is expected to expand to Beijing in 1 July, or at the latest the third quarter of 2012.
During this Working Group meeting, the speaker will outline the main contents of the indirect tax reform and some practical considerations on how businesses could manage the reform and the actions it could take including all of its key commercial, financial and legal issues. The case study section will include the following discussion in relation to logistic industry:
Financial impact assessments
Analysis on the treatment of cross-border transactions
Major risk areas or issues that businesses need to be aware of
Please register with Ms. Xiao Handan, hdxiao@europeanchamber.com.cn, before COB Monday 23rd April.
