The European Chamber is delighted to have Mitch Barnes, President of Nielsen Greater China to announce the results of their Global Consumer Confidence Index.
With many economies around the world still reeling from the effects of the financial crisis, China's consumer markets seem to be faring better than most. But are Chinese customers really confident in the state of the economy? And how will their views impact on their spending and ultimately on your business?
Nielsen recently expanded their Consumer Confidence tracking program in China. They now interview 3500 Chinese consumers quarterly (14 times more than before) and report consumer confidence not only for total China, but also by geographic region, city tier, and other socio-demographic sub-groups. This also makes it possible to get a detailed look at the financial concerns and the spending plans of Chinese consumers. The learnings by region and city tier are fascinating, and they are helping marketers to uncover a number of good opportunities.
We would like to invite you to join us at our upcoming session so we can share these fascinating results with you. You will learn how Chinese consumers feel on hot topic issues such as job security, personal finance, and the strength of China's economy. We will introduce Chinese consumers' top concerns and how these are affecting their spending while comparing the data to other economies around the world. And we will also take a closer look at the impact on consumers' confidence in different city tiers and geographic regions in China, as well as examine the related retail sales trends.
