On 15th September, 2021, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, jointly issued a plan on controlling plastic pollution over the next five years, which specifies a key task that China will ramp up the orderly recycle and reuse of plastic waste and its management. The plan emphasises the source reduction of plastic, and a standardised system to collect, transport and dispose of plastic.
In 2020, China's plastic production reached over 100 million tons, including plastic products above the scale of more than 76 million tons. The huge consumption of plastics brings a large amount of plastic waste, and the vast majority of plastic materials are renewable. Recycling waste plastics can not only address plastic pollution, but also provide considerable raw materials for industrial production. Therefore, how to recycle plastic waste and transfer to modern industrial production with advanced technology is one of the key tasks in companies' strategy.
