An unannounced inspection or dawn raid by a competition authority will create major disruption for your business and may signal the start of protracted proceedings, potentially leading to fines and even liability to individual employees.
There have been important new developments in Chinese competition law, specifically in the areas of life sciences and the automotive sectors. The EU Chamber is delighted to welcome Adrian Emch, Partner, Hogan Lovells, and Michael Hickman, Director, Integrity Risk Consulting, Control Risks, to explain the implications of these developments and provide practical tips on how companies can ensure they are compliant and be ready for an unexpected knock on their door.
The panelists will address the new normative changes in the pipeline. In particular relating to the drafting of new guidelines from Chinese authorities on substantive antitrust aspects – on how the Anti-Monopoly Law applies in the IPR space; and what the new rules for the automotive sector will look like. Speakers will also touch upon procedural aspects – what level of fines the authorities are empowered to impose; how the procedures for obtaining an exemption works; how a company can apply for leniency (that is, "blow the whistle") or end an ongoing investigation with commitments.
