SAMR Meeting on the Revision of the Administrative Measures of the Regulation of Food Labelling

On 8th May, European Chamber representative was invited to join a meeting on the revision of the Administrative Measures of the Regulation of Food Labelling organised by the State Administration of Market Regulation (SAMR). At the meeting, participants discussed the labelling requirements on shelf life, imported products and infant formula as well as claims for food for population with special dietary needs. It was agreed that it is important to protect consumers’ health and their right to be informed, meanwhile, it shall not increase a huge economic burden for the business, especially during the outbreak of the COVID-19. The SMAR thanked all participants for their inputs and suggestions on the revision and agreed to revise the draft accordingly.

Meeting wiith DG Trade on Regulatory Updates of China's Food Sector and 2020 Activity Planning

The Paediatric Nutrition Working Group, Cheese Working Group, and Food for Special Medical Purpose Advisory Committee had a meeting with officials from the Directorate-General for Trade of the European Commission. They were briefed the latest regulatory updates of China's food sector and the current difficulty of the special food in China. Also, both sides exchanged ideas on EUCCC's activity planning for the year of 2020 and the proposal of having a training in the Europe in September was much welcome by the European side.
