Exploring Pathways to the Green Transition: The China Market and Corporate Transition

Despite the ongoing challenges of Covid-19 and the resulting economic fluctuations over the past two years, the new energy sector has continued to see staggering growth, including electric vehicles, which set new records in Chinese sales in the past year. The rapid growth of offshore wind energy and solar PV in recent years has breathed hope into global efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Whether it be at COP26 or in China’s 14th FYP, one message always rings clear: the new energy sector is key to tackling climate change and reaching carbon neutrality, and its growth is only the beginning of the global shift towards sustainable practices.

Understanding the growth of renewable energy in the past gives us reason to be more optimistic about how fast it can ramp up to meet carbon neutrality goals in the future. Lobby Letter Submitted to the People's Bank of China (PBoC) on the Draft Regulation on Local Financial Supervision and Administration of Local Financial Organisations

On 21st January, the European Chamber’s Banking & Securities working group and Non-Banking Financial Institutions (NBFI) working group sent a joint letter to the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) International Cooperation Department to follow up to a meeting held between Banking & Securities working group's representatives and People’s Bank of China officials on 14th January. A lobby letter with comments on PBOC’s draft regulation on local financial supervision and administration of local financial organisations by the NBFI working group was attached to the thank you letter.
