Presentation of the European Business in China Position Paper 2023-24 and the Riskful Thinking Report to the Indian Business Community

On Wednesday 8th May 2024, the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China Advisory Council held a networking event at the Consulate General of India in Shanghai. The event, organised in cooperation with the Consulate General of India in Shanghai, provided an opportunity for members of the Advisory Council to engage with prominent Indian companies operating in China.

Dr. N. Nandakumar, Consul General of India in Shanghai, extended a warm welcome to the attendees and delivered the opening remarks. Following this, Mr Carlo D'Andrea, Vice President of the European Chamber and Chair of the Shanghai Chapter, presented the European Business in China Position Paper 2023-24. His presentation outlined the key findings and recommendations aimed at improving the business environment for European enterprises in China.

Subsequently, Mr. Steven Basart, General Manager of the Shanghai Chapter of the European Chamber, introduced the latest Chamber report Riskful Thinking – Navigating the Politics of Economic Security. His presentation delved into the complexities of economic security and the political risks associated with conducting business in the current global landscape.

The event concluded with a Q&A and a networking session which facilitated further discussions and fostered stronger connections between European and Indian business leaders in Shanghai.
