Policy Interpretation: the Updates of Visa Exemption Coming to China from Designated 8 Countries and Other Transit Visa Policies

On 28th November, the European Chamber Tianjin Chapter was invited to a policy interpretation seminar organized by the Tianjin Commerce Bureau on the updates of visa exemption coming to China from designated 8 countries and 144hrs transit visa exemption among Jing-Jin-Ji area in Tianjin.

Tianjin General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection and Tianjin Public Security Bureau Entry and Exit Department introduced 3 kinds of visa exemption policies: firstly,15-day Visa exemption for passport holders of 8 countries(France, Germany, Italy, Netherland, Spain and so on) coming to China for business trip, attending meetings, travel, visit relatives and friends as well as transit purpose. Secondly, 144hr transit Visa exemption for passport holders of designated 54 countries (e.g. Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Swiss.) coming to China through Jing-Jin-Ji area and heading a third destination. Thirdly, 24hr transit Visa exemption for all nationality passport holder coming to China through any entry and exit portal in China.

What’s more, the criteria for expats working in China to apply for permanent residence card had an update. Also a 5-year residence permit for work was introduced: expats who have applied the 1-year (or above) residence permit for work for consecutive two years are eligible of applying for a 5-year residence permit.
