Chamber President and Director General of Department of Commerce Discuss the Issues of European Business in Guangdong

On April 12th, Director General of the Guangdong Department of Commerce Zheng Jianrong met with Chamber President Joerg Wuttke and a group of South China Chapter members to discuss the issues of European Businesses in Guangdong.

Director General of the Guangdong Department of Commerce presented an overview of economic developments in Guangdong and emphasised that strengthening cooperation with Europe is among top priorities of the local agenda. Director General welcomed the European Chamber delegation to provide suggestions how to improve the business environment to attract more investment from Europe.

President Wuttke pointed out that the Chinese investment to Europe is four times the European investment to China and as a result is underrepresented in China. In order to attract more European investment it was suggested to build level playing field and welcome competition in business environment as well as more open and less restrictive visa requirement to stimulate the movement of professionals between China and Europe.

Guangdong Government is planning European Business Summit in September and invited the European Chamber to be the official partner of the Summit.

This meeting concluded with President Wuttke hand over the China Manufacturing 2015 to Director General of the Guangdong Department of Commerce Zheng Jianrong.
