Meeting with Vice Commissioner of the SIPO

President Wuttke led a delegation and met Vice Commissioner He Zhimin of SIPO. Mr. He started the meeting by commenting on the cooperation between SIPO and the EU in the IP related areas. He said that SIPO valued the cooperative and close relations with the EU authorities and the Chamber. President Wuttke recalled earlier engagement with the SIPO Ministers in his first term of the presidency at the Chamber. He appreciated the support SIPO has shown to the Chamber and would like to deepen the relations with the SIPO.

Vice Chair of the IPR working group raised questions about the Service Invention Regulation (draft for comment), law enforcement in the IP area, utility model patents, etc. Maggie voiced the concerns over the IP protection in the implementation of the Cybersecurity Law in China. Carol briefly introduced the IPR Helpdesk and its facilitation provided to the EU SMEs. Officials from relevant departments of the SIPO responded to these issues. President Wuttke presented the Position Paper 2016/2017 to Mr. He, who agreed to send relevant official to attend meetings or event organized by the Chamber. Both sides will continue working-level dialogues and exchanges to build closer relations.
