Job description
We are seeking a confident, energetic team player with an interest in Chinese investment in the UK and exports to the UK. The role will entail assisting with the delivery of a wide range of business services that support Chinese companies investing in the UK and exporting to the UK, so as to expand CBBC’s client and membership network. The jobholder will report to the Director, Commercial & Outbound Services in the CBBC Shanghai office.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for working with CBBC’s membership network to create CBBC’s annual UK Investment Guide (a Chinese-language publication), carrying out detailed research into the advantages of investing in the UK, and supporting event organisation to introduce investing in the UK to Chinese companies from different sectors.
Specific responsibilities include:
•
Managing communications with CBBC members to receive, process, edit and gain approval for content for CBBC’s flagship UK Investment Guide
•
Assisting colleagues from different sector teams in the UK and China to conduct research into market regulations, data and trends within the UK, from the perspective of Chinese investors into the UK
•
Organising and helping to manage outbound events in cities across China, dealing effectively with and meeting the expectations of different stakeholders and partners, such as Chinese local government bodies, CBBC members and Chinese companies in attendance
•
Proactively expanding CBBC’s database to track Chinese investment in the UK and reach out to more Chinese companies actively considering investing in the UK
•
Attending meetings with clients, members and stakeholders, including from local government offices, and taking meeting notes
Skills & experience
The ideal candidate will be energetic, highly motivated, IT literate, an excellent organiser and communicator, an active listener and a team player with a proven ability to work independently. Specific requirements for the role are as follows:

Bachelor's degree or above
•
Excellent language skills in English and Mandarin (written and oral)
•
Strong research skills with a focus on regulations and best practices
•
Basic events management skills, providing careful attention to details
•
Demonstrable understanding of UK-China business issues
•
Client-facing skills are requested
•
A flexible and entrepreneurial style and a quick learner
•
Skilled use of computer software, e.g., Word, Excel, PPT and design software
