Job description
Position Overview:
Duke Kunshan University (DKU), Duke University, and the Duke Global Health institute (DGHl) are developing a Master of Science in Global Health (MSc-GH) that will accept its student cohort to begin in August 2014. This is a new and high-profile program, unique in its design and curriculum, and effective initial program coordination will determine its future success.
The Program Coordinator of Global Health supports the DKU GH program. The position will work closely with the Director of Graduate Studies, Global Health at DKU. She/he will serve as a primary liaison between the DKU MSc-GH program and administrative offices and functions at Duke University and DKU.

Essential Duties:
1. Program Operation
1. Act as the primary program contact for faculty, current students, alumni, other Duke departments, and external inquiries.
2. Liaise with Duke and DKU Registrar’s offices to ensure accurate and timely exchange of course schedules, enrollments, and grades; resolve discrepancies and verify student registration.
3. Facilitate logistics for visiting faculty, including visa applications, itineraries, accommodations, and related needs.
4. Maintain comprehensive archives of course materials, student records, and program execution documents.
5. Support the development and quality assurance of student assignments and exams on Canvas; monitor submissions and reports as needed.
6. Keep accurate records of DKU MSc-GH meetings and committees.
7. Organize and operate program-related events and seminars.
8. Coordinate the program’s summer school operations, providing operational support to students and faculty, and managing related budgeting and fund transfers.
2. Recruitment Support
1. Collaborate with the DKU Graduate Recruitment Team to support student recruitment and program promotion.
2. Develop and promote initiatives to enhance integration between the MSc-GH program and DKU undergraduate programs, such as organizing joint seminars, networking events, and mentorship opportunities.
3. Serve as a program representative at recruitment events to provide detailed information to prospective students when necessary.
3. Student Services
1. Support student onboarding to ensure smooth transitions, including effectively coordinating orientation activities and student registration.
2. Monitor student academic progress and maintain up-to-date records; connect students with appropriate on-campus resources.
3. Provide end-to-end support for the students’ fieldwork.
4. Coordinate thesis defense arrangements for students, regardless of their graduation timeline (early, on-time, or deferred), and ensure all graduation clearance procedures adhere to both Duke Graduate School and DKU policies.
5. Respond to student emergencies with adherence to campus regulations and confidentiality policies.
6. Support student exchange programs at Duke or other partner institutions to enrich the international experience of the program.
7. Cooperate with the DKU Graduate Program Office and the DKU Education and Foundation Office to ensure that student scholarships are successfully processed; assist students in completing scholarship paperwork as required, and submit thank-you letters and execution reports as needed.
8. Organize student activities to enhance campus engagement, including the graduation ceremony and other events.
4. Student Employability
1. Develop and maintain relationships with employer partners in the global health sector, including public health agencies, international NGOs, research institutions, and private sector organizations.
2. Source, curate, and promote high-quality internship, practicum, and full-time employment opportunities for MSc-GH students.
3. Collaborate with the Career Services Office to organize career development workshops, training sessions, and networking events tailored to the needs of global health students.
4. Build and leverage the MSc-GH alumni network to create mentorship opportunities, organize alumni-led events, and facilitate current students’ access to alumni career insights and opportunities.
5. Work with the Career Services Office and DKU Education and Foundation Office to administer the international internship program, coordinate selection committees, prepare funding reports, and process reimbursements.
5. Program Communications
1. Contribute to the promotion of the program by working closely with the communications team to provide necessary support, including updates for program brochures, websites, and social media platforms.
2. Draft strategic reports, including program assessment, three-year reviews, student career development updates, and other relevant documentation.
3. Develop and distribute regular program updates to students, faculty, and stakeholders.
4. Enhance internal and external communication strategies to ensure consistent and effective messaging about the program’s activities and achievements.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & experience
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Public Health, Education, Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, or International Development.
2. Minimum of two years of professional experience in academic administration, international education, or a related area, with specific experience in China and other Asian countries is required.
3. Strong understanding of the global health landscape, key employers, and industry trends.
4. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Chinese, with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with diverse stakeholders.
5. Proven project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
6. High level of professionalism, discretion, and cultural sensitivity when handling confidential matters.
