The Foreign Spirits Producers Association (FSPA) was established in 1995, as a non-profit industrial association representing the 10 leading international spirits producers in China including Bacardi, Brown Forman, Campari, Diageo, Edrington, Moet Hennessy, Pernod Ricard, Remy Cointreau, Suntory Global Spirits and William Grant & Sons (in alphabetical order). FSPA operates as the leading voice and primary advocacy platform for producers of international spirits and wine in China to promote the positive social, cultural, and economic contribution of international spirits and wines in China and to advocate for a balanced regulatory environment which enables our members to grow in a sustainable way.
Job description
Role Scope of the Secretary General of Foreign Spirits Producers Association (FSPA)
•As the representative for the international spirits industry in China, the Secretary General acts as the leading ambassador to advocate for China market operating conditions in support of sustainable industry growth. The role further manages policy, legislative, regulatory and reputational risks and opportunities for the international spirits category.
•The Secretary General works in partnership with a wide but well-defined group of stakeholders in China and overseas ranging from the Chinese Government at central, provincial, and local level and r agencies, domestic and international industry organizations, member companies, overseas governments, multilateral institutions, and civil society. This senior role therefore requires organizational leadership acumen, skillful stakeholder management and a strategic approach to what is a rapidly evolving and complex agenda.
•The principal areas the Secretary General to prosecute include: Public policy (tax, trade, health, and regulations among others), reputation management and communications, stakeholder engagement, the FSPA’s responsible drinking credentials and environment and sustainability issues.
•The Secretary General is a key conveyor and voice of the international spirits industry in China and plays an important role in relevant industry and business forums.
• Engagement with member companies, understanding the issues that are important to them while driving a balance and cohesive way forward on areas of common interest for the industry. It is critical that the Secretary General is seen as a peer and trusted advisor to the leaders they will be interacting with and have credibility around the table.
Skills & experience
Desired Profile
• Above 15 years experiences in public policy or government affairs areas. Experience in running trade association would be a plus.
• Good skills working with multiple stakeholders.
• Be able to balance strategic thinking and execution, be action oriented.
• Energic and hungry, able to deliver a return to members.
