Job description
Position Overview:
As a member of Duke Kunshan University (DKU)’s Development and Alumni Relations Office, a team with joint accountability for fundraising, business development and alumni engagement to find resources and establish networks to support the short-term as well as long-term success of the institution, the Development Assistant will provide essential support to the team with a special focus on the DKU Empower project.
Funded by a perpetual endowment, DKU Empower is a campus charity education initiative that consists of a portfolio of programs that allow students and faculty to create positive social impact in communities beyond the campus. These programs provide DKU students with an immersive service-learning experience, enabling them to practice knowledge in the service of society and bring positive impact to communities. The Development Assistant will support the planning, execution and evaluation of DKU Empower and help to effectively convey the impact back to the funder. On top of supporting DKU Empower, this person will also provide support to advance other work of the Development and Alumni Relations team. For the Development Assistant to succeed in this role, s/he will need to actively engage a number of stakeholders, including DKU Foundation, Student Experience, Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Environment Research Center, Global Health Research Center, DKU faculty, student participants, external nonprofit partners, etc.

DKU Foundation Secretary General, with a dotted line to Senior Communications Officer
Essential Duties:
DKU Empower:
1. Coordinate with on-campus partners, including Student Experience, Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Environment Research Center, Global Health Research Center, and DKU faculty, to help design, plan and implement programs; accompany trips as needed.
2. Support on-campus partners to coordinate program implementation with external partners.
3. Work with DKU Foundation and on-campus partners to conduct post-program evaluations to reflect the impact of this program accurately and comprehensively.
4. Timely communicate program budget with different departments and work with them to control budget.
5. Help produce communication pieces to promote the impact of this program to a larger audience.
Data and administrative support:
1. Timely update and maintain the record of engagement activities, donation commitment and project implementation updates in Salesforce database.
2. Support in tracking the donation payment status, and work with prospect engagement team to remind and acknowledge donors in an appropriate and timely way.
3. Provide administrative support to the team’s business, including budget, meeting, travel logistics, etc.
4. Support the team with major events planning and execution when necessary.
Miscellaneous:
1. Perform other duties as assigned.
2. University employees’ job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the University grows in size and complexity in its programs.
Skills & experience
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree minimum.
2. Preferably with a master’s degree or two years of professional experiences in the fields related to education, community development, or sociology.
3. Must possess strong problem-solving, organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
4. Responsible, self-motivated, flexible, a team player and able to work well under pressure.
5. Working or education experiences in a multi-cultural environment is a plus.
6. Willingness to travel and work some evenings and weekends.
