Job description
The Press Officer is responsible for handling all aspects of media relations for the European Chamber.
Position Overview:
- Acting as official contact point between European Chamber and Chinese and foreign media
- Dealing with daily media requests, coordinating outreach and arranging interviews
- Developing and maintaining network of press contacts in China and Europe; maintaining media contacts lists for all European Chamber offices
- Proactively sourcing and developing opportunities for media coverage for the European Chamber in top tier Chinese and foreign media
- Developing, in association with the Government Affairs team, media statements on various issues and distributing them to the media
- Drafting and distributing press releases
- Organising and coordinating regular press conferences and press briefings
- Monitoring Chinese and foreign media and producing regular media coverage reports
- Working with website editor and marketing team to generate content for European Chamber website and other publications
- Develop and implement a strategy to generate content for social media sites in a timely manner
- Working with the marketing team to produce films and multimedia programs to be used online
- Maintaining and updating information on the European Chamber website
- Provide support in sourcing and managing speaking and partnership opportunities
- updating and enforcing media policy among local chapters
Skills & experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including an excellent command of spoken and written English and Mandarin
- Strong knowledge of, and interest in China’s commercial and political environment
- Ability to work to strict deadlines to a high degree of accuracy
- Existing network of contacts in the Beijing-based Chinese and/or foreign business media would be a distinct advantage
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant qualification in journalism, communications or a related field
- Minimum two years of professional experience in Media
