Job description
To strengthen the Chamber’s Government Affairs department, we offer an internship position at the Chamber’s Beijing office. The internship presents an opportunity to gain valuable experience within the areas that the Chamber is involved in, including lobbying, events and organising working group meetings with European industry. We offer regular training, an international and English working environment and an insight into the working style of multinational companies.
The current intern position will support the work of the Chamber’s Standards and Conformity Assessment Working Group, Quality and Safety Services sub-Working Group, Logistics Working Group, and Inter-Chamber SME Working Group.
Key Responsibility:
- Assist with the setting up and conducting of working meetings, including managing invitations, registrations, meeting minutes and other logistical work;
- Conduct regulatory and market research on issues designated by line managers;
- Assist with the liaison between working group members and/or government authorities;
- Analyse and compile Call for Comments on legislation drafts;
- Prepare the monthly newsletter and government update collection;
- Help with English-Chinese translation and occasional oral interpretation;
Skills & experience
- Native mandarin with excellent command of spoken and written English;
- University student currently enrolled in a degree (bachelor of third year or above, graduate students are preferred);
- Major: English, Economics, Management, Public Policy, International Relations, European Affairs and other relevant social science degrees are preferred;
- Basic understanding of the Chinese government structure and legislation process;
- Excellent interpersonal skills (strong sense of responsibility, attention to details and communication skills etc.) with self-motivation to learn and achieve from an internship;
Please kindly note that, due to regulatory requirements, only Chinese nationals can apply for this position. The intern will receive a daily stipend of RMB 100 before tax. Upon completion of a six-month internship, the intern will receive a recommendation letter signed by the Secretary General of Chamber for future reference.
