Overview
The main responsibility of the Advocacy and Working Group Coordinator/Assistant relates to the technical support and assistance to the Advocacy Manager in the development of the Advocacy activities of the EU SME Centre. However, this role will also involve the coordination/management of the Working Groups (WG) and related lobbying activities. Working Groups are composed of individuals from the corporate sector representing different industries/sector and that share common interests in the policy/business environment.
Tasks
- EU SME Advocacy Project
· Assist with the creation of the Advocacy database: identification, description, classification, and prioritization of EU Business support organizations with advocacy interests and/or capability in China, Asia and Europe to form the foundation for best practice sharing/networking
· Support with development of the Advocacy strategy and work plan (stakeholder and issue mapping, stakeholder engagement strategy, execution of engagement strategy)
· Preparing draft of the Terms of Reference of the Inter-Chambers SME Working Group under the guidance of the Advocacy Manager and coordination of the logistics for internal meetings among Chambers of Commerce
· Support in the organization of the Inter-Chambers SME Working Group (research topics, contact speakers, coordination with members of the consortium) and policy meetings
· Assist with research, preparation and publication of the Inter-Chambers SME Working Group Position Papers and other policy reports
· Work closely with the Advocacy Manager in the development of SME lobbying and execution of an action plan towards Chinese Government Officials as well as the EU Delegation and Member States that leverages and contributes to existing platforms/initiatives
· Drafting monthly policy newsletter
· Assist in the coordination annual meeting on advocacy best practices and annual conference with stakeholder
· Draft briefing notes ahead of lobby meetings
· Compile and prepare advocacy report
Skills & experience
- 1-3 years Government Affairs relations experience;
- Strong knowledge about Chinese authorities and practices
- Good understanding and interest in Chinese commercial and political environment
- Excellent project management skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communicator
- Strong planning and analytical organisation skills
- Responsible, professional, open-minded, and strategic thinker
- Near native English speaker a must, other European languages and Mandarin are a plus
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- University degree in related field ( economics, political science, communications, law …)
