China Issues New Guide for Foreign Investment

A new guide was released on Wednesday 7th November that lists the industries open to foreign investment and the foreign companies that are banned or restricted from entering the Chinese market.

The new guide, which replaces the 2004 version and will take effect from 1st December 2007, invites foreign investors to promote the recycling economy, clean production, renewable energy utilisation and ecological environment protection; while prohibiting foreign investment into projects that are energy-consuming and highly-polluting.
