Pilot Enterprise-Based Training for Laid-off State Forestry Enterprise Workers in Sichuan Go back »

The logging ban in natural forest areas of the EU-China Natural Forest Management Project (NFMP) resulted in former logging employees being laid-off by the State Forestry Enterprises (SFE) in the natural forest areas. There are approximately 600 such workers in total that have been laid-off in project-demonstration areas in Sichuan Province. They are located in Pingwu, Songpan and Baoxing; the three areas covered by the NFMP in Sichuan.

In order to help to alleviate the hardship caused, the EU-China Natural Forest Management Project has allocated a budget to provide appropriate re-training for the affected people through training.

So far all training has been school-based and the NFMP is about to start the training for self-employment in the near future. Now the NFMP wishes to establish one or two pilot courses for training selected laid-off workers (5 – 10 maximum) for future employment in one or two suitable commercial / industrial enterprises.

This is a charitable cause which will help the laid-off workers and at the same time train qualified staff for your own enterprise at no charge.
