2015-01-29 | Nanjing

Following the success of the Green & Clean Sustainability Forum and the 1st Corporate Social Responsibility Awards in October 2014, there has been broad interest among our membership base, and beyond, to provide best practice exchange and links between the government, academia and the business community to further the commitment to energy and environment.   Therefore the Executive Committee of the Chamber has approved the launch of a new Working Group in Nanjing focusing on energy policies and sustainable practices for the environment. Energy is a global issue that requires a political level of engagement. We endorse the Key Recommendation of the 2014/2015 Position Paper and will coordinate with the Environment and Energy WGs’ in other Chapter.

The Environment and Energy t Working Group (WG) would, at the start, address the impact of energy policies on businesses and operations by examining:

  • Energy efficiency & the low-carbon approach
  • Innovative practices
  • “clean” and sustainable production and products
  • the promotion of environmentally and socially responsible behaviour (or good governance)

The WG is meant to further the broader goal of EUCC by:

- assisting member companies to promote the development and integration of clean and renewable energies while harmonizing with ethical values, people, communities and the environment.

-be a role model for Chinese enterprises and policy makers by sharing best practices of European energy industries operating in China and providing input for energy policy work

-to provide information resources and business intelligence, networking and collaborative opportunities that link energy policy, sustainability and corporate social responsibility as an integral part of business operations and strategies.

The first meeting of the new WG will be after the Chinese New Year break.
