On 27th June, the Banking & Securities Working Group met with the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF).

The OMFIF is an independent, globally-operating central banking think-tank that promotes better understanding of the world economy and higher across-the-board standards. OMFIF’s main areas of focus are economic and monetary policy, asset management and financial supervision and regulation.

During the meeting Jens Ruebbert, Vice President of the European Chamber and Chair of the Banking & Securities Working Group, introduced the Working Group and the challenges that foreign banks face in China. The representatives of the OMFIF then debriefed members on the meetings they were due to have in China. This was followed by a discussion on monetary policy in China, shadow banking and the recent liquidity crunch.
