We are very happy to welcome to the Chamber's team in Nanjing Katrien Maes, our new colleague who is responsible for Member Support.

Katrien will be responsible for the support in the development of the memberships, the preparation and follow up on membership renewal and support in organization and implementation of European Chamber Events. She is also responsible for the preparation of potential member lists and the update of the membership lists and database.

Katrien was born in Antwerp, Belgium, and has lived here her whole life until she came to Nanjing for the first time in 2009.Before joining the Chamber, Katrien has obtained her master degree in Sinology at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. During the school year 2009-2010 she studied at Nanjing Normal University. Her thesis research in February 2011 also took place in Nanjing. This city feels like a second home to her, and she thinks that Nanjing is the perfect environment for her to fully develop herself as a sinologist. In order to further improve her Chinese skills, she worked at the Nanjing Jinling Translation Company as a freelance translator. Nanjing made such a big impression on her that she had to go back after her graduation in June 2011.

Katrien hopes that her profound knowledge of the Chinese language and culture will be beneficial for the local business community. She believes that the Chamber plays a valuable role in helping to develop positive European-Chinese relations and in bringing the business communities together. She also thinks that European Chamber of Commerce in China is able to improve the European-Chinese dialogue, which is necessary if one wants to develop a good business environment.

We wish Katrien an excellent start in the Chamber and warmly welcome her into our team!
