Lord Mandelson compliments the European Chamber’s Position Paper

Beijing, 8th September 2009 - This morning the European Chamber and the British Chamber jointly hosted a breakfast seminar in Beijing with Lord Mandelson, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation & Skills for the UK government and former EU Trade Commissioner.

With an audience of over 150 people from the European and British business communities, Lord Mandelson shared his views on China’s economic development, its rising importance, the opportunities available as well as the challenges ahead for foreign businesses.

In his speech, Lord Mandelson highlighted the newly launched European Business in China Position Paper 2009/2010, and commented:
"(The Position Paper) is a testimony to the seriousness with which European business regards China. It shows very real, very sincere and very earnest engagement between the European business community in China and the Chinese stakeholders…I certainly welcome this year’s report. It’s something that has been taken very, very seriously indeed not only by companies but also by governments. "
