Its COVID strategy has been put to the test, with nationwide outbreaks of the highly transmissible Omicron variant disrupting business operations on an unprecedented scale throughout the year. Other significant internal challenges include China’s mounting debt crisis, the unravelling of its real estate sector, demographic headwinds and stalling consumption growth.

The European Chamber Finance and Taxation Working Group is pleased to invite you to attend a working group event themed ‘China's taxation policy for opening-up: past trajectory and future trends’, where our distinguished guest speaker Ms Liang Ji, Director of Research Center for Government Revenues of the Chinese Academy of Fiscal Sciences (中国财政科学研究院公共收入研究中心主任梁季), will review how China’s taxation policy system has evolved since the 1980s, and share her insight on its developing trends in the new context.
The event will take place on Thursday 15th December at 09:30-11:30 am (Beijing time), both on-site in the chamber Beijing office and online via Zoom. The meeting will be given in Chinese only. Our speaker – Director Liang Ji – will attend the meeting on-site.

Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission, the People's Bank of China, member units of the Inter-ministerial Joint Conference on the Establishment of the Social Credit System, and other relevant departments have studied and drafted the Social Credit System Establishment Law (Draft for Comments), and publicly solicited comments. In recent years, the establishment of social credit system has been addressed in several regulations and policy documentations, and comprehensive pilots has been carried out in the practice of local social credit legislation in various areas.

近期国家发展改革委、人民银行会同社会信用体系建设部际联席会议成员单位和其他有关部门研究起草了《社会信用体系建设法(向社会公开征求意见稿)》,并向社会公开征求意见。近年来,社会信用制度体系建设在多部法规及政策文件中有所涉及,并在多地有地方社会信用立法的实践进行综合探索。
