European Chamber is excited to announce that our Chamber member ISLC is expanding their businesses, and partnered with UCC on the DBA program's launching in China. This collaboration aims to pursue a doctoral degree (Doctorate of Business Administration), which allows the students to master their chosen area of study and contribute to the creation of new knowledge.

DBA Program

The DBA (Doctorate of Business Administration) Degree is a doctoral research programme running over 4 years. The Practitioner Doctorate programme is delivered on a cohort basis only. This emphasises the participatory ethos and the collaborative nature of learning appropriate to professional practice development. 

The Business School at University College Cork is pleased to work with ISLC (Institute of Strategic Leadership and Coaching) towards delivering the programme in 2024. The programme is delivered across a set of structured modules to facilitate delivery of a research thesis that adds to knowledge. The modules are provided to support the structure and development of the research. From the first year of the programme, candidates engage in applied research. The research targets an organisational challenge and proposes solution(s) through research carried out over four years. The award of DBA depends on successful oral examination of the Research Thesis.

Eligibility Information 申请资格

To be eligible for entry to the programme, candidates are required to satisfy both Academic and Professional Experience Requirements.

Academic Experience

Applications are welcome from graduates holding MBA (or equivalent practitioner-oriented Master's degree), Master's Degree in Business, or in a cognate business discipline, at Second Class Honours level.

Professional Experience

In addition to educational experience, candidates must demonstrate evidence of significant work experience (at least 8 years) at a professional level that reflects considerable responsibilities and indicates future potential.

- Exceptionally, graduates with Bachelors qualifications (at least Second Class Honours, Grade I, in their primary degree, or equivalent) and significant professional experience (at least 12 years) are also eligible to apply. Interviews will be held considering both academic and professional experience to select the appropriate cohort of students.  References conveying suitability for and commitment to completing the programme will be sought. A Personal Statement is required to outline research interests, professional learning goals and rationale for entry to the programme.
