On 1st January 2023, the newly-revised Law on the Protection of Rights and Interests of Women came into force, improving the protection of women’s rights and interests in China in a wide range of areas.
The revised law stipulates that the state shall take necessary measures to promote gender equality, eliminate discrimination of all forms against women and prohibit the exclusion or restriction of women's legitimate rights and interests.
In light of the current move to promote gender equality, the new set of rules shall also optimise employment security measures for women, prevent and remedy gender discrimination, and create an impartial employment and entrepreneurial environment, according to the law.
Join the webinar on 28th February where prominent speakers will share their insights about the protection of women’s rights in the workplace and touch upon the issues of sexual harassment, prejudiced treatment in hiring and other workplace discrimination.

Ms. Beijue Tang
Ms. Beijue Tang is currently the Director of Legal&Tax APAC of Wuerth China Holding, which is a shared service center with its legal services accessible for Wuerth entties in the Asia-Pacific area. Beijue majored in law studies in East China Universitry of Political Science and Law and obtained LLM from Fudan University. Before joining the Wuerth Group, she worked in AllBright Law Office and Weir China as legal counsel. Her professional area covers several topics from compliance, contract mangement, insurance to intellectual property rights (IPR) and further general corporate affairs. Beijue became a Vice-Chair of the Legal & Competition working group of the European Chamber in 2022.

Ms. Jeanette Yu

Ms. Jeanette Yu
Jeanette Yu is Partner and head of Employment & Pensions Practice Area Group of CMS, China. She has more than 18 years experience in advising clients on Chinese labour law and compliance issues of Chinese companies. She has been involved in a number of significant projects and has advised clients on a wide range of employment law issues such as conclusion of employment contract, formulating and implementing the employee handbook, code of conduct, advising on employee dismissal, mass lay-off, relocation and restructuring, non-competition, social security, work permit, secondment and visa issues of expatriates as well as handling various labour disputes and internal investigation on compliance matters.
Starting from 2017, Jeanette acted as the Vice Chair of HR Working Group of European Chamber of Commerce in China, and the Chair in 2019. Jeanette is also a member of Shanghai Law Society Labour and Social Security Law Research Branch.
Ms. Joanne Wood

Ms. Joanne Wood
Joanne K. Wood is the Founder and Managing Partner of Capital Eight, a corporate finance house headquartered in Shanghai. She is also one of the longest serving foreigners based in China, having lived and worked on the Mainland for nearly 40 years.
With an investment banking career spanning 35+ years, Joanne has worked in senior corporate finance positions with UBS, Jardine Fleming (JP Morgan) and GE Capital across Europe, the USA and Greater China; 25 of those years have been focused on a wide range of M&A, debt and equity capital raisings, restructurings and infrastructure financing.
At Jardine Fleming, she was a member of the first dedicated team of M&A professionals based in Asia and was internationally ranked as a leading Asian-emerging markets corporate finance advisor. Listing many Fortune 500, FTSE 100 and Sino 400 entities amongst her clients, Joanne continues to advise companies on China domestic and cross-border investment strategy, capital structuring, valuation and deal negotiation.
Joanne actively represents the foreign financial services industry in China, engaging in regular peer dialogue with the Chinese Government. She is Chair Emeritus of the British Chamber of Commerce Financial Services Group, former Chair of the Ethics Council for the American Chamber of Commerce Shanghai and was inaugural Chair of the National Australian Chamber of Commerce Greater China. Joanne has also worked with the UK Government to promote the adoption of PPP infrastructure financing in China and is a former Vice Chair of the EU Chamber’s Investment Working Group. She advises young and aspiring entrepreneurs globally as an accredited member of Silicon Valley’s SOSV global mentor program, and is an Advisory Board Director to three tech start-ups.
Joanne is a regular speaker at international conferences and often asked for her views on China’s financial services industry and the China investment environment. Amongst other engagements, she has participated in the BBC’s globally televised debating series “Intelligence Squared”. Joanne holds an MBA from London Business School, a BArts from the University of Adelaide, South Australia and reads, writes and speaks Mandarin.

Majored in Psychology, Grace has 18 years’ work experience in HR field. Being an expert on Talent and organizational development, she has been working in multinational companies from various industries with solid experience on organizational change management, leadership coaching and competence building.
Grace joined H&M in 2014 and in her current role as the Global HR Business Partner, she leads the people objective and agenda in different countries, including China, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Sweden and Turkey.

Ms. Mandy QIN has 20+ years of experience in Human Resources with several leading multi-national companies, holding various HR management positions, including OD Director for SUEZ Asia, HR General Manager for Shell, HR Director for Novartis, and L&D Manager for ConocoPhillips.
Ms. Qing Wang

Ms. Qing Wang
Qing has been managing UN Women’s WeCare project, which aims to support companies to develop family friend work environment, while eliminating gender-based violence in the workplace.
Additionally, Qing also leads on the Gender and Climate Change portfolio, supporting women to build up climate resilience, obtain sustainable livelihoods, and participate in global climate action.
She also serves as the focal point of UN Women China Office and participates in the UN Planet Result Group of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for China, supporting the gender mainstreaming in UN’s work.
Qing graduated from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and has more than 10 years of work experience. Through her work, she has partnered extensively with various organizations, including enterprises, governments, foundations, and other UN agencies.
